The David Crighton Fellowship is a scheme that provides for three-month visits for young researchers (from overseas or from elsewhere in the UK), to the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, to engage in collaborative research with members of the Department.

Such Fellowships can attract young scientists of outstanding merit to Cambridge and there is also the possibility for young DAMTP researchers to make visits elsewhere. This scheme, with typically four Fellowships each year, has proved itself over the last seven years, and lasting collaborations have emerged. Each Fellowship, or a corresponding summer studentship to allow undergraduates to experience fluid dynamics in DAMTP, requires an endowment of £60k.
