With more than 100 members, the Cambridge University Canoe Club caters for all levels of ability, from absolute beginner to hardcore expert.

CUCC is the home of paddlesport at Cambridge University. Covering white water, canoe polo, freestyle, and marathon we take everyone from complete beginners all the way to seasoned paddlers and provide coaching and trips for all abilities.

Our members are united in sharing a love of being on the water, escaping to the river to play around in our boats, and work on our skills. Passion for paddling also drives our members to compete and we take pride in representing the university at events including Varsity, BUCS, and the national freestyle competition NSR. We also take members away to white water in places like Lee Valley, North Wales, and the Alps.

Everything in the club centres around making sure our members get the most out of their paddling so we focus our time and money on arranging coached sessions, to train up our newest paddlers and also our future leaders. This includes gaining real qualifications allowing participants to pass on their skills to the next generations of CUCC members. We also make sure we invest in our site – tucked away in Grantchester, it’s an idyllic location that we are very lucky to paddle in but challenging to maintain. In recent years, we have invested in changing rooms and sheds projects to make sure our kit is kept safely and securely.

All of this keeps the club the vibrant, inclusive place it is but it comes at a price. Each time we develop the site it costs about £5,000 and a weekend coaching course costs around £200 per person. To ensure the future of the club, we rely on charitable support. If you are able, please consider making a donation to allow us to keep training up our future paddlers and maintain our unique site. All contributions, great and small, repeated or one-off, are hugely appreciated. To donate, just follow the instructions on this page — thank you so much.
